Review of UFOs and the Millennium
An exhaustive compendium of UFO incidents and UFOlogy

Very, very helpful!
Great Resource for Elementary Educators

Outstanding
A charming "mask" for spiritFrankly, I have no need to believe this will happen, but if it does, I think I'm ready. However, I have warning! I find that if you build a spiritual system that relies upon expected EXTERNAL EVENTS, you are doomed to possible disappointment, and have become just another extrovert who obsesses on the external, rather than "going within". If you truly go within to find God, who cares about some silly Harvest?
But lack of belief does not impact the enjoyment of the book, which surprisingly makes a left turn about mid-way from such New Age laadeedah assertions and heads into a description of basic Buddhist practices. I enjoyed this! No one should be able to complain about Scott's suggestion that we know ourselves (via meditation), accept ourselves (our ego and spirit nature), and then transcend the basic operating system (ego) and do service to others. I felt this was sincere and well meaning. My view? The core admonishment in most spiritual systems (except Fundamentalist Christianity and Islam which still seem to thrive on separation, fear, anger and an external enemy) is to perform the eternal spiritual verities of kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and love. If it was easy, we wouldn't be here, since we are here to practice and learn!
To wrap up, if you wish to imagine yourself an alien "Wanderer" (perhaps too sensitive and pure for this world) who does charity work (the spiritual verities) and sets a good example for the uncouth local natives, fine with me! The "mask" you put on spiritual truth does not matter, as long as you get to the core mystical message that we are all in this together.
This book is a charming sojourn into an unusual spiritual "mask". You could do much worse for your literary entertainment.

Excellent assistance for legacy Macs-get it if you canThe book answers many repeated questions that I see on the Macintosh newsgroups, when hand-me-down computers are given a new lease on life! I am amazed that so many people want to do revivals and upgrades!
I find it invaluable as a Mac DTP Systems Engineer. Much easier than scanning back issues of MacWorld and MacUser magazines. The book's index is 55 pages! I have used it for 4 years and it is quite marked up, with many added Post-it notes and scribbles.
Que, 94, ISBN 0-88022-960-8, 1012 ppgs, $35. An absolute must have if you can find it in a closeout bin, or used bookstore.
Now if a sequel of comparable comprehensiveness would become available, covering PCI Macs, Mac clones, and G3, a gargantuan task...
If you upgrade or repair you Mac you need this book!

great book
Uveitis : Fundamentals and Clinical Practice.

Rockwell Kent's Exhibit marks a return to his native countryThe book is small, and unfortunately only in paperback, but the color is excellent. The documentation and historical data is accurate and engaging. This book is the first effort to group Kent's Adirondack paintings. The layout is lovely and the book has an intimate feel to it.The book also showcases some of his well known and not so well known illustrations. The book reminds us that Kent was also an adept typographer, as he was a consumate graphic artist. Some of his Adirondack inspired graphics reflect the "back to the land" sensibility he embodied. I also had the opportunity to hear Ms. Welsh( author, historian) in person at the Adirondack museum where many of the paintings have been for the last year(1999-2000). She is an astute scholar and admirable expert on Mr. Kent.Kent is sure to find a more secure place in art history, now that he has once again gained recognition for his energetic and artistic art spirit.Welcome back Rockwell, it's about time.
A Beautiful and Thorough BookThe book itself is beautiful: printed on heavy, coated stock, with clear pictures in color on virtually every page. Most are 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" in size, varnished to add extra sparkle for the reader. For those who wish to dig more deeply into the life of this remarkable man, Ferris provides a selected checklist of his Adironadack works with detailed notes on every entry including Adirondack paintings not in the museum exhibit). He also lists Kent's books, drawings and prints, and five pages of selected references for further reading. -- Allen Long, Arlington, VA.

Excellent
Already an experienced VB programmer? This book is for you!

A must for the Las Vegas architecture junkie...This book came out in 1993. If you're looking for information on the newer hotels that have sprung up, the ones that came and left during then and now, you won't find it here. You will find details about the ones that were imploded during the 90's, which was a nice resource for those of us that were curious about the Sands, Dunes, Hacienda and the Aladdin. It's also an indication of just how much the strip has evolved from the timeline of the publishing of this book and what is the strip looks today, year 2001. An excellent study of the architecture changes of Vegas and its reflections on the rest of the U.S.
A MUST buy for the Las Vegas afficianado!
